Business robbery duo caught

Two men, aged 26 and 30 years old were arrested for a business robbery, through the efforts of the Springs Crime Prevention team.

The duo was caught at Gugulethu Everest Informal Settlement following information received by police of their whereabouts on June 30, around 6am.

The first suspect (26), was found with in possession of a firearm used in a business robbery which took place in Bakerton in May, while the second accused was found inside his shack where police also recovered a bicycle, backpack, pairs of shoes and soaps from the same robbery.

Springs spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora said the first suspect will appear at the Springs Magistrate’s Court on July 4, for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and business robbery while the 30-year-old will appear in court for business robbery.

Police are still also investigating further to check if the two are not linked to any other crimes in the area.
