SAPS received a call about mob justice in the area.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says when the police arrived at the scene they saw the head of the deceased burning.
Upon investigation the community claimed the deceased was allegedly raping and killing residents of the informal settlement.
The body was taken to the Springs mortuary and no arrests have been made.
The police are investigating a murder case.
