Selection Park pool due to open in November
Springs residents can look forward to enjoying the cool water of the Selection Park Swimming Pool by November.
The exact date has not yet been released by the Ekurhuleni Metro, but they plan to schedule a date soon when metro officials will be present at the official launch.
Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe says the completion of the pool was slightly delayed by two months due to some contractual glitches, but these have since been resolved.

“The contractor is on site and will continue to complete all outstanding work.”
Construction of the parking area was also delayed but the contract value has since been extended and was recently approved by the metro, therefore, the contractor will continue to complete all outstanding work.
The heaps of sand, overgrown with grass and weeds, in the parking area will also be removed before the final completion.
Selection Park resident Bossie Bosman was concerned about the lights burning on the premises at night, but according to Gadebe says the contractor claims they were testing the parking area lighting.
No further explanation was given.
“However, it is critical to mention that at present, the contractor is still responsible for the payment of electricity used on the site,” says Gadebe.

All water used to fill public swimming pools are coming from municipal water lines.
He says the residents should know that swimming pools are also topped up from the same water lines and the metro’s sports, recreation, arts and culture department is responsible for the payment of all water usage accounts.
