Springs woman accused of kidnapping a baby is out on bail

A Springs woman (39), accused of kidnapping a nine-month-old baby, was granted bail in the Springs Regional Court, on Wednesday.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the accused allegedly removed the baby from a house in Eastvale, on Friday.

The accused allegedly called the baby’s grandmother, who found her daughter (age unknown) and granddaughter (2) in the house.

“The grandmother looked for the baby, but couldn’t find him, and, upon further investigation, it was suspected that her daughter had been drugged,” says Ramphora.

When the police arrived at the scene they found an empty medicine bottle on the floor.

Upon further investigation, the police and Barries Barnard, from Hi5Kids Recovery Unit, found the baby in Selection Park, on Saturday.
