Busy Dunnottar intersection gives residents nightmares

Nigel Road and Birkenruth Avenue intersection has become a nightmare to Dunnottar residents.

The residents are fed up with the dangerous intersection which is getting no attention from the metro.

This busy intersection has only four stop signs which are regularly ignored by motorists.

During a recent bumper bashing accident, a pedestrian was allegedly almost hit by both vehicles involved in the accident.

Dunnottar resident Thokozo Green believes this is a dangerous intersection which causes traffic congestion during peak hours.

“Drivers fail to obey the road signs and the traffic laws.

“We appeal to the metro to install a traffic light which, I believe, will contribute to a safer intersection not only for pedestrians but also for motorists,” she says.

Green could not confirm if there was a petition to be signed, but she will report back on this soon.

No comment was received from the metro at the time of publishing.
