Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the 39-year-old man will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court soon.
The suspect will face charges of 40 armed robberies involving the theft of tobacco vehicles and their contents in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, including Springs.

The manhunt ended after four years when he was arrested by Springs Police and Provincial Crime Intelligence members in Kaapmuiden in Mpumalanga on January 28.
Ramphora says the man was allegedly hiding in Kaapmuiden with the intention of crossing the border to Mozambique.
SAPS launched a manhunt for the suspect in 2012.

The suspect is currently in police custody, where he will remain until his first court appearance.
