Six suspects tied up a security guard and broke into a business in Hills Road, Selection Park to steal goods, at 1.20am, on Wednesday.
Three of the suspects were armed with firearms.
The 26-year-old guard, who was on duty when the six suspects entered the premises, was tied up with cable ties.
According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the suspects took equipment worth R1.2-million, driving away in two earth moving machines, with 40 litres of diesel, a water pump and a generator.
“The suspects dismantled the tracking systems on the earth moving machines,” says Ramphora.
He says the guard claims the suspects left the premises at 4am.
SAPS are investigating a case of business robbery.
