UPDATE: Hit list not confirmed

No confirmation on the 'hit' of a man shot in Springs.

“Allegations of a ‘hit list’ which surfaced following the shooting of a bouncer at Springsgate cannot be proved yet, as the case is still being investigated,” says Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesperson.

The man, who is believed to be a bouncer, and his sister were shot at the KFC drive-thru, Springsgate, at 8.20pm, on Wednesday.

Ramphora confirmed the man was shot five times while the woman was shot once.

They were in a Ford bakkie placing an order for food when they were approached by an armed man.

“The motive of the shooting is being investigated and it is unclear at the moment if the attempted murder was a hit on the man’s life,” says Ramphora.

A white BMW with two occupants, was parked in the parking area near the food outlet.

One of the suspects jumped out of the vehicle, approached the man, shot him and his sister and ran towards the get-away vehicle.

The man was shot in his upper body and the woman sustained a gunshot wound in her stomach.

Ramphora says the man is still in hospital but he couldn’t confirm his condition or which hospital it was.

“Further investigation will reveal more details around what transpired.

“No one has been arrested thus far and anyone with information that might help us apprehend the suspects should contact the police station on 011 365 5719/20,” says Ramphora.
