JUST IN: Light aircraft makes emergency landing next to the N17 in Springs

A light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing next to the N17 Highway this evening.

Shortly after 5.30pm this evening Netcare 911 responded to an emergency light aircraft landing next to the N17 Highway in Springs.

According to Tebogo Magoro, spokesperson of Netcare 911, reports from the scene indicate the pilot and co-pilot where flying in the Springs airspace when the light aircraft suddenly had an engine failure prompting the pilots to initiate an emergency landing next to the N17 highway.

“Thankfully they landed safely and both pilots had no injuries and the aircraft was not damaged.”

EMPD was on the scene to investigate.

“The aircraft was cleared away by 18:30,” says Inspector Kobeti Mokheseng, communication liaison officer for the EMPD.
