This is a direct contradiction to what Tiisetso Nketle, the MMC for water, sanitation and energy, said in February.
Nkelte stated that a newly upgraded substation in Dunnottar would resolve the frequent and continuous power outages that have plagued Sharon Park for the past seven years.
Nkelte also blamed the frequent power outages on cable theft and vandalism.
The community have subsequently demanded answers from the city of Ekurhuleni.
The metro failed to respond in time for publication, but the ward councillor for Sharon Park, Wollaston Labuschagne says, “Apparently Eskom is doing improvements on their supply infrastructure as we speak; therefore, I am still optimistic that the situation will improve.”
