No fingerprint on licence plus motorists still waiting for their licences

“I applied for it in September last year and I'm still waiting,” says Mbhele.

It appears some motorists are still waiting to get their new driver’s licences.

This came after the protest action last year causing a delay in the production of new driver’s licences.

An Addie staffer only received her new licence after a six-month delay and was surprised to see the new licence did not have her fingerprint at the back.

“I’m just worried now that it might not be valid and I could be forced to apply for another one,” says the staff member. When the staffer collected hers last week, the man in front of her in the queue, Sithembiso Mbhele, still had not received his professional driving permit.

“I’m getting very worried now, because I might not be able to do my job and I could get fined if I’m stopped by the traffic officers.

“I applied for it in September last year and I’m still waiting,” says Mbhele.

The EMPD did not respond in time for publication.
