Holiday programme in Slovo Park
The programme was initiated by Dipuo Mojaki, a child welfare volunteer under the Asibavikele Department.
The Child Welfare hosted a holiday programme for learners at Vukucinge Primary School in Slovo Park from June 18 to July 3.
The programme was initiated by Dipuo Mojaki, a child welfare volunteer under the Asibavikele Department.
Mojaki says, “I once received a call from the school (Vukucinge) telling me that the learners have started experimenting in drugs, crime and sex.
“I then decided to have this programme so that I can educate learners in different things and that they should speak up when they feel they are abused or pressurised.
“I even invited different stakeholders such as the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca), South African Police Service (SAPS), Love Life and Ward Community Development Centre (WCDC) for them to speak to the learners.”
