Park Hotel not occupied by homeless

"There are no homeless staying here," says Shabangu.

In response to an article titled “Resident alleges homeless have moved into Park Hotel”, ward Clr Shadow Shabangu says no homeless people have moved into the Park Hotel.

The Park Hotel is located in Selection Park, abandoned; a resident alleged homeless people have moved into the hotel and use it as shelter.

Shabangu responded to the story by investigating the hotel and found no traces of loitering.

“I don’t know where they get this information from.

“There are no homeless staying here,” says Shabangu.

The hotel’s gates are locked with strong steel gates and windows are similarly made inaccessible with steel bars.

The owner’s brother, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the hotel was subject to severe looting in the past couple of years, thus making necessary the increase in security measures.

Shabangu stated homeless people sleep in the doorways of the surrounding businesses at night, and this, he suspects, is where the complaints come from.
