Bhairavi Sungum of Springs hosts a day of the elderly

The Bhairavi Sungum of Springs held their annual day of the elderly in Bakerton on Sunday afternoon at the Bakerton Community Hall.
The venue was packed full with pensioners and their children, dressed in their finest gear.

Master of ceremonies Roshnie Pillay started the event with a meet-and-great session to break the ice.
Many attendees were only too eager to make new friends.
Those who had died were also remembered with a moment of silence.

Speaking on behalf of the Bhairavi Sungum of Springs, chairperson Poovershree Pillay said as the attendees’ children, they were just as excited to spend the day with them as they were to spend the day with each other.

“We appreciate your hard work and sacrifice that have made us into the people we are today.
“You have taught us that without family, we are nothing.
“Today is about you and we’re happy to have this day to spoil you,” says Pillay.

Pillay also remarked how it was through the support of the community that the Bhairavi Sungum of Springs was able to achieve their goal of buying a kombi in September after raising funds for the past four years.
The attendees were given a scrumptious lunch and there were numerous lucky draws throughout the day.
