Poor maintenance causes flooding in Derlsey

Roos says: “This whole road floods when it rains, even if it is only light rain."

A gully is causing flooding in Dersley Park.

According to resident Isabel Roos, a water pipe was removed a number of years ago and has left a gully in the field opposite her home.

Whenever it rains, this gully fills up and leads to flooding in the area.

The property in question is in a low point on the road and therefore the flooding is made even worse in that area.

The water rises up Roos’ property and is threatening to damage her wall.

Roos says: “This whole road floods when it rains, even if it is only light rain.”

The grass around the gully has not been cut in years and provides hiding spots for criminals.

Roos says there has been a notable increase in break-ins since the grass has grown so tall.

She says: “It’s the municipality’s job to cut the grass, and they need to be held accountable for any damages the grass and gully is causing in the area.”

The metro has failed to respond at time of publication.
