Residents unhappy about parked taxis

Those who live in the flats opposite say when they come home for lunch, there's no parking left on the street.

Residents who live on First Avenue say they are unhappy about the taxis parked down the street all day.

On some days, there are as many as 30 taxis parked on the street.

“They make a lot of noise, and it now the street smells like a toilet.

“It is a big problem for us now.

“At first, it was just five taxis, but now there’s between 25 and 30 taxis.

“They shouldn’t be here.

“This is not a taxi rank,” says residents.

The residents are also unhappy about the amount of litter in the area, which they say is a result of the taxis parked on the street.

Those who live in the flats opposite say when they come home for lunch, there’s no parking left on the street.

Springs Taxi Association chairperson Leonard Molo says the taxis have parked there for a long time.

“I will go and look into it myself as we’ve never received complaints before,” says Molo.
