Young designer is using his creativity to earn a living

"The name Nephesh has biblical origins, it refers to the aspects of sentience, faith and belief which was perfect for me."

Geluksdal – Young entrepreneur Tumelo Msiza (21) is set to make his mark in the fashion industry through his own clothing brand, Nephesh.

The brand was officially launched in October 2019.

“I have always wanted a brand. I just didn’t know where to start, until I started reading inspirational books and watching motivational videos on YouTube.

“The book that changed everything was ‘The Secret’, it taught me a lot about the law of attraction and how to implement the visualisation technique, which is why my brand is affiliated with it,” explains Msiza.

He says he chose the name Nephesh because of the message it carries.

“I did a lot of researching before I embarked on this journey and obviously having the correct name is one of the most important aspects of any business.

“The name Nephesh has biblical origins, it refers to the aspects of sentience, faith and belief which was perfect for me.

Tumelo Msiza is excited about the future plans he is currently working on.

“My brand is all about inspiring people to go out there and achieve their dreams and goals using the law of attraction and prayer.

“The young designer says he draws inspiration from fashion icons such as Jaden Smith and Luka Sabbat.

“One of the biggest lessons I have learned from this whole Covid-19 pandemic is that saving money, planning ahead and staying prepared is important.

“As a small and new business, obviously the impact is greater.

“We have, however, been using social media to market our brand and designs. Having ambassadors also helped us.

“Most importantly, the support of my family and friends, my business partner, Daniel Mulaudzi, and my girlfriend keeps me going,” he adds.

His biggest dream is to one day own his own store.

“My dream is to inspire others to follow their dreams and also help them, through sharing my experiences and knowledge.

“I see myself dressing some of the biggest celebrities in the world,” says Msiza.
