Police and CPF conduct operation around Springs

Liquor outlets shut down during SAPS operation

Local SAPS and CPF members conducted an operation around Springs under the leadership of Vispol Commander head Col Mandla Mhlongo.
The operation took place from 6pm last Saturday to 2am last Sunday. No serious crimes were reported.
The main purpose of the operation was to reduce crimes such as rape, hijacking, armed robbery and illegal possession of drugs and firearms that emanate from liquor outlets around the Springs precinct.

The operation yielded good results and the following successes were achieved:
• Three were arrested for drinking in public.
• Three were arrested for being drunk in public.
• Three fines valued at R300 each were issued for non-compliance.
• Three liquor outlets were closed for failing to comply with curfew regulations and liquor worth R60 000 was confiscated.

“The police and CPF took it upon themselves to squeeze the space for criminals to commit any crimes in the Springs precinct,” said Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.
Springs station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe applauded the SAPS members and community members for their commitment and partnership in protecting the community of Springs.
