Men hijacked in Everest informal settlement

Suspected hijacker arrested

Two men were robbed of their vehicle while on Main Road in the Everest informal settlement last Sunday evening.
Local police said the two men had stopped when they were approached by a man who looked familiar to them.
The man accused the two victims of almost hitting him with their car.

While they were arguing, another man, armed with a knife, appeared and ordered them to get out of the car.
Once the pair were out of the car, the hijackers got into the vehicle and drove off.
Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said a suspect has since been arrested.
