Woman arrested after stolen vehicles found on property

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said officers patrolling in the area at around 11am stopped at the Nigel Road house and looked up the status of the cars parked in the yard.

EMPD Eastern Region Task Team officers arrested a woman in her Selection Park home last Thursday after they found two stolen vehicles on the property.
EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said officers patrolling in the area at around 11am stopped at the Nigel Road house and looked up the status of the cars parked in the yard.
While doing so, the woman, who said she was the home owner’s wife, appeared and voluntarily opened the main gate for the officers.

“Officers learned that the parked white branded (private business) single cab Ford Ranger was reported stolen in the Midrand area in April 2019.
“The black Mercedes-Benz Viano minibus parked next to the Ford Ranger was reported stolen in the Springs area in April 2016 and the original colour used to be silver.
“A few number plates found on site tested positive for robbed motor vehicles, with Lenasia and Mondeo registered case numbers.

“The female suspect, who was no longer cooperative after the disocvery, is facing charges of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles and resisting arrest,” said Mokheseng.
She was held at the Springs Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon.
The vehicles were impounded and will be kept at the SAPS Van Ryn Deep Vehicle Pound in Benoni.
