Alleged drug dealer arrested on First Avenue

The man was arrested by the EMPD Eastern Region Task Team.

During an anti-drugs operation in Springs last Friday, the EMPD Eastern Region Task Team arrested a man in possession of narcotics worth R15 000.
The 34-year-old, who looked suspicious and appeared to be nervous, was cornered at the intersection of Tuin Street and First avenues at 3pm.

He was handcuffed and escorted to the Springs Police Station after officers uncovered 92 ziplock bags of crystal meth, five ecstasy tablets, three portable digital scales, five sealed pipes and five Mandrax tablets.
“Members of the community who witnessed the arrest identified the apprehended suspect as an alleged notorious drug dealer.

The 34-year-old is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.

“The detained offender, facing charges of possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
