Plenty of pumpkins for Farrow family

The family, who three years ago, grew two pumpkins that weighed 111kg and 70kg respectively, have expanded their garden to include even more vegetables.

The Farrow family have once again produced an impressive haul from their pumpkin patch.
The family, who three years ago grew two pumpkins that weighed 111kg and 70kg respectively, have expanded their garden to include more vegetables.
This year their garden yielded over 20 pumpkins alone, with some weighing over 20kg.

In addition to the pumpkins, their garden boasts cucumbers, tomatoes, patty pans and chillies.
“Our pumpkins are still the biggest we have in the garden.
“They’re not as big as the previous years, but we have more of them, of different sizes and varieties.
“We don’t do anything special to our garden, just manure and watering it every day,” said Brayden, who works in the garden with his father, Hilton, and brother Shane.

The gains from their veggie garden have forced the family to be more creative in the kitchen.
“My wife, Chantelle, makes the most delicious pumpkin fritters,” said Hilton.
The family intends giving the pumpkins to disadvantaged people, neighbours, charitable organisations and whoever wants them.
