EMPD arrests two men in Springs for possession of drugs

The drugs found on the pair were valued at R13 000.

Members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement and Anti-Cable Theft Unit arrested four men on Sunday who were found in possession of drugs and property of the City of Ekurhuleni, which had been reported stolen in Springs and Kempton Park.
Between 11.30am and 11.50am in the Springs area, the Drug Enforcement Squad cornered and apprehended two men who, after being searched, were found with five packets of nyaope, paper and plastic-wrapped dagga, 42 ziplock bags and plastic-wrapped of crystal meth, one ziplock bag of rock and six ziplock bags of quarter and full Mandrax tablets valued at R13 000, as well as R550 cash.
The duo faces charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances and was escorted to Springs Police Station.

Meanwhile, in Kempton Park two men were found with reported stolen items.
They were arrested by the EMPD Anti-Cable Theft Unit.
At midday, EMPD members who wore plain clothes, intending to purchase a cellphone battery, went into a cellphone shop along Voortrekker Road in which there were two people.
As the EMPD officers were browsing for a suitable battery, they witnessed an odd exchange of cash between the shop owner and a very nervous customer, who had computer hard drives.
Officers identified themselves and intervened.
“Four computer boxes and four external hard drives with logos, branding and serial numbers registered under the City of Ekurhuleni were noticed.
“On closer inspection, the loot was reported stolen in November by the Kempton Park Customer Care Centre management and the suspect selling stolen goods was once accommodated under a learnership programme at the CoE information communication and technology department.
“Both offenders, facing charges of possession of stolen items, were marched to the Kempton Park Police Station,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.
The foursome is expected to appear in court soon.
