Man hijacked after being pulled over by bogus officers

Once he had stopped, four men, one of whom was wearing an EMPD mask, approached him and asked for his driver’s licence.

A 49-year-old man had to find his way home after he was hijacked on the N17 highway next to the Wit Road off-ramp last Tuesday afternoon.
Travelling in a white Isuzu double cab bakkie, the driver was on his way home when he was pulled over by the occupants of a white Toyota Quantum.
Once he had stopped, four men, one of whom was wearing an EMPD mask, approached him and asked for his driver’s licence.

The driver was asked to follow the ‘officer’ to the Quantum to check his fingerprints for outstanding fines.
He was then forced into the Quantum, told to keep quiet and his face was covered.
The hijackers drove around with the victim for about three hours and dropped him off in Vosloorus.
His vehicle was later found in the same area. No arrests have been made.
