Advocacy group gets the job done

The group’s provincial head, Charles Barrell, said it is through donations and working with other organisations they get the work done.

The Move One Million group returned to the old SPAR lot this past weekend to finish the job they started two weeks ago.
They chose this spot specifically because it is located at one of the entrances to Springs with many businesses in the area.

Bongi Nxumalo is happy to do her part for the community.

“It’s a community project and we’re going to go all around Springs.
“This place just looked disastrous,” said Maria Valente, the Springs field rep.

When they started cleaning up two weeks ago, they filled over 250 bags with rubbish they had picked up from the lot.
To clean up the lot, the group employed some of the homeless people in the vicinity and said they wanted to give them some hope.

Baldwin Mulaudzi braved the hot sun to get the job done.

“AfriForum was here when we started and they helped us tremendously
“PVS Construction, Maxis Butchery, Pick n Pay Strubenvale and ProSafe also helped make this possible,” said Barrel.
