Man surprised by robbers in bedroom

The victim told police he was sleeping in his Leewbekkie Street home when he was awakened by the sound of barking dogs.

A 35-year-old Welgedacht man had a rude awakening when he woke up to find five robbers standing next to his bed on Monday morning.
The victim told police he was sleeping in his Leewbekkie Street home when he was awakened by the sound of barking dogs.
He opened his eyes and found the men, one of whom was armed with a gun, in his bedroom. The men demanded money from him.

After the victim told them he didn’t have any money, the men started assaulting him and searched the bedroom.
While they were searching through the drawers, one of the drawers fell out and the men found R2 000 hidden inside.
They took the money and three cellphones, a tablet, an amplifier, tools and a pair of Nike tekkies before fleeing.
The men gained entry to the house through the kitchen door.
No shots were fired during the incident and no injuries were reported.
