Hiking club serves the homeless in the CBD

In commemoration of Youth Day, the young people of Rea Hamba Hiking Club committed themselves to feed and clothe those who need it most.

In commemoration of Youth Day, the young people of Rea Hamba Hiking Club committed themselves to feed and clothe those who need it most.

The club also donated clothes to those in need.

“We have come to realise it’s not all about hiking; we also give back to the community.
“We gathered as a team and gave homeless people food and clothes at the Palm Springs parking lot,” explained Collien Tapiwa, one of the founding members of the club.

They believe they were able to reach more than 100 homeless people.
He said they will be resuming hiking in summer due to Covid-19 regulations.
“We thank the Rea Hamba committee for the job well done, as they took their time to celebrate Youth Day by organising such an event,” Tapiwa said.
