Donate vital items to Vita Nova Centre at the Springs Mall

The Rotary Club of Springs Park has teamed up with the Springs Mall to collect supplies for the Vita Nova Centre.
Vita Nova is a residential facility for persons with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and the physically and mentally challenged.
Residents at the centre range from infants to people in their 80s. Because of Covid-19, the centre has been unable to conduct regular fund-raising and are therefore short of certain supplies.
The centre relies on the residents’ grants and donations to keep it going. This is sometimes not enough or comes in late, putting the centre in a difficult position.
“They go through R50 000 worth of adult nappies in one month. Their electricity bill is approximately R250 000 for the month.
“They also have salaries to pay for the nursing staff that look after their residents,” said Rotary Club of Springs Park president Louise Schaap.
The centre needs toiletries, non-perishable food items, clothing and stimulation toys, such as playdough and colouring-in books.
To donate, simply purchase the items and place them in the collection boxes around the Springs Mall.
