House gutted by fire

Residents of the home relied solely on solar panels for their electricity and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

A house on Lilac Road in Welgedacht burned down on August 6 in an uncontrollable fire.
According to family member Hannes Rossouw, residents of the home relied solely on solar panels for their electricity and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

The fire gutted every room in the house.

Two families resided in the home, owners Hennie and Corlette Evert with their two children, and Corlette’s brother Johan Rossouw, his wife Sherly and their three children.
According to Rossouw, the families lost most of their possessions in the fire and find themselves in a desperate situation.

However, they are still in need of groceries and two single beds.
