Parts of Springs to be without power after substation fire

The substation went up in flames on Monday afternoon.

The City of Ekurhuleni said parts of Springs could be without electricity after a substation in Modder East went up in flames on Monday afternoon.
City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said a team of DEMS officials had been dispatched to extinguish the blaze.
“Energy officials are also on site to determine the possible cause of the fire and the extent of the damage,” said Dlamini.
Areas affected are Modder East, Dersley, Presidents Dam, Welgedacht, Persida and Brakpan North.
Residents are requested to treat all electrical installations as live at all times.
