A guard was overpowered by robbers in New Era on Saturday morning.
The victim was patrolling when he claimed he heard a noise.
“Upon inspection, he saw two men, one carrying a gun.
“They took him to the guardroom and threatened to kill him if he made a noise,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora from the Springs SAPS.
A third robber joined them and the victim’s hands were tied behind his back with a wire.

“They then took him inside the business and told him to lie down.
“He heard the sound of a vehicle passing close by.
“He eventually managed to untie himself and went to the guardroom and pushed the panic button,” added Ramphora.
A Toyota Dyna truck (VLM 387 GP ) with a crane was taken.
The value of the truck is R800 000 and it has not yet been recovered.
