Celebrating Human Rights Day with the youth

The event, which will comprise soccer games and a marathon, will take place at 09:30 at the PAM Brink sport ground.

Youth from the Geduld community held a special sports event for the community on Human Rights Day (March 21).
Philani Ndlazi and Mandla Maseko said they always wanted to do something for the community and show them they are loved and appreciated.
“We want to remind the youth that education is important and they should use the opportunity to their advantage. It will also be a perfect day to educate our community about Human Rights Day, and have some fun at the same time,” said Ndlazi.
Maseko told the Advertiser the aim is to bring the community together and assist one another about issues concerning the youth in Geduld.

“There are a lot of issues the youth face daily and we want to find a way to close that gap. Youth unemployment in our country is one of the biggest issues and we want to assist in helping to try find opportunities,” he said.
They have secured sponsorships for food and refreshments on the day, but are hoping more sponsors will come forward.
