Hope, Faith and Grace community projects to host garage sale

Community members encouraged to donate any unwanted items.

Kerry-Leigh Wright from Hope, Faith and Grace community project will hold a garage sale on May 7 at 15 Achilles Street in Pollak Park.
“We urge people to donate any unwanted items towards the day to assist us to raise funds,” said Wright.
They have been using social media to reach out to people for donations and have been networking with previous donors.
“So far, it has been quiet because we just recently opened. We recently moved 12 children from the streets, rehab and foster homes.
“They do programmes for the rest of the year and make sure they fully recover to stand on their own feet and move to the next group. Unfortunately, we only take the next group in a new year for a new programme, not in the middle of the year,” said Wright.

She said throughout the year they receive counselling and life coaching, and they go to church and learn new skills.
“We are giving them a full fresh start, especially with the ones who were on drugs.”
She told the Advertiser they are raising funds for rent and other monthly expenses.
“We do not have sponsors that cover our rent and we are still looking for sponsors that can assist us to cover our electricity bill and water. We are just trying to manage until we get there,” she said.
