A Dersley Park man lost his pregnant wife and their two children when a fire gutted their home on Sunday night.
“He is inconsolable at the moment. We are all shattered by this,” said the man’s stepsister.
He was alerted to the fire by his wife who woke him up around 22:00.
“He told her to get the children out while he went to seek help,” explained Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
The man went to a cottage in the same yard for assistance.
“When he returned to the house it was already fully ablaze and there was a lot of smoke,” added Tshabalala.
The fire brigade extinguished the fire.
The man’s wife (36) was found on the kitchen floor and their four-year-old daughter in the lounge. They both died from smoke inhalation.
