Karien 24/7 Caregiving wants to give elders a new warm home

“We need businesses and the community to come on board and understand our vision. We will fund renovations out of our pockets. The sad thing is we are running out of funds and the plan is to open the place on August 1.”

Karien 24/7 Caregiving was established in October 2020 by the then founder and owner Karien ‘O Hara as a caregiving service for the elderly, with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and the sickly.

Soon she could no longer do this by herself. She decided to approach certain partners who share the same vision and passion for those in need, especially the elderly.

Nicky de Lange, who is also in partnership with the elderly home, said they took an initiative in opening the home to assist the elders who cannot afford to stay in a private elderly home.

“We will be opening doors to two palliative care centres, based in 2nd Avenue, Geduld, and Solomon Street, Pollak Park, both in Springs. We are in an advanced stage to move into one of the buildings,” said De Lange.

They are appealing to the community to help them.

“We need businesses and the community to come on board and understand our vision. We will fund renovations out of our pockets. The sad thing is we are running out of funds and the plan is to open the place on August 1.”

They are in desperate need to finish both centres and they need a long list of things urgently.

“We have already received hospital beds, but it is still not enough. We need kitchen appliances, furniture, and more bedding.

“If you cannot donate the material, please become a monthly partner by donating a fee on a 12-monthly basis to help us run these facilities with precision and effectiveness,” he said.
