Medicross Springs mourns ‘mellow hearted’ Dr Bernard Cohen

The much-loved dentist who practiced at Netcare Medicross Springs for the past seven years, died on June 13.

The staff at Medicross has expressed deep sadness at the death of Dr Bernard Cohen.
The much-loved dentist who practiced at Netcare Medicross Springs for the past seven years, died on June 13.
Dr Oelie Van Schalkwyk, dental director: Netcare Primary Care Division, said that Cohen will be fondly remembered by all as a soft spoken, kind and mellow hearted gentleman.
“He was an integral and active member of the Medicross family from June 2015 right up until the time of his passing.
“He first commenced service within Medicross Carnival Mall, whereafter he transferred to Medicross Springs in July 2020.
“Dr Cohen qualified in 1975 and operated a successful private practice in Medical City, Morningside and Brakpan prior to joining Medicross in 2015,” said van Schalkwyk.

He added that Cohen was an excellent and respected clinician and well loved by his peers, staff and patients, many of whom followed him from afar to Netcare Medicross Springs for dental consultations and treatment.
“His absence will leave a void that will be difficult to fill, and his gentle presence will be sorely missed by his patients, colleagues, and staff at the medical and dental centre.
“On behalf of Medicross management, associated practitioners and personnel I wish to express our deep condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Dr Cohen’s family and wish them strength, courage and comfort during this very difficult time of sorrow and bereavement. Please be assured that you are in our thoughts and prayers,” concluded van Schalkwyk.
