Local insurance broker feeds community

A Selcourt-based insurance broker hosted a food packing challenge in aid of the Soft Landings Foundation in celebration of Mandela Day

In the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day and to honour the legacy of one of the world’s greatest leaders, a Selcourt-based insurance broker hosted a food packing challenge in aid of the Soft Landings Foundation.

Abigail Venter lent her hand to feeding the poor this Mandela Day.

The foundation distributes food parcels to those in need across South Africa.
The company is part of the Badger Group. Throughout the morning staff members were dedicated to the cause, offering up their time to help pack food. They managed to exceed their target of 4 500 food parcels by packing 5 130 food parcels.

These parcels contain rice, soya mince, mixed vegetables, and fortified vitamin powder to provide food that contains all the necessary nutrients.
Each parcel can feed up to six people.
“We are privileged, humbled, and grateful that we could make a difference today.
“It is an honour for us to be part of the unifying power of one man’s world-changing vision, and we hope that the goodwill that is inspired by this day continues and makes a marked impact on the lives that need it most,” said managing director Kedi Maponyane.
