Springs Scouts collect lids and tags for the Sweetheart Foundation

"We hope our collection will double next year, so that halfway in the year we can already make a difference in someone's life."

Springs Central Air Scouts held a bread tags and bottle lids collection for the fifth year in a row.

The collection for this year is the Sweetheart Foundation.

“They recycle the collected lids and tags and with that money they help people in need to get wheelchairs.

Anything upwards of 20kg of bottle lids can purchase one wheelchair,” said troop scouter Melissa Campbell.

She adds that they would not have gotten to where they are if it wasn’t for the public and other organisations pitching in to help them.

“This initiative not only helps with our litter problem but also assists in making a difference in someone’s life by improving their quality of life. We thank everyone who helped us make this collection possible,” she beamed.
