Local resident makes the cut as Mrs Universe Africa semi-finalist
The Mrs Universe Pageant will allow Carol Majola to express her love for herself and share it with others.
Carol Majola (35) from Springs CBD has been nominated as a finalist for Mrs Universe Africa 2023. She received the confirmation on November 11.
She sat down with the Springs Advertiser to share her journey. When asked how she started on the road to being a Mrs Universe Africa contestant, she answered on how she wasn’t even actively looking to get into pageantry.
“I remember going through the motions before applying for the pageant. I was in a very dark space. Just as I emerged from it, I saw the advert for the competition, and I knew my time had come.
“I told myself I only need one moment to validate myself and this would be a journey of self-love,” said Majola.
Majola, who’s a wife and mother of six, said her main focus as she begins her charity work will be on gender-based violence.
“As a person speaking from experience with GBV, I have come to appreciate the platform I have been given. My focus will be on the boy child,” she explained.
She said the conditioning of boy children in their homes and the toxic environment in which they are raised are the primary causes of the damage to society.
“Women and little girls stand no chance no matter what they wear or what they do until we heal the boy child. It starts with him. I am a mother to five boys and one girl, so this cause is especially important to me,” she said.

She touched on what is required of her going forward.
“We have been in sessions and attending training. We are also required to find sponsorship for our journey and work on fundraising and social causes close to our hearts,” she noted.
She admits that it won’t be easy, but she is ready to tackle it with everything she has.
“I have already met some inspiring individuals, most being women who I can relate to on a deeper and more spiritual level,” she commented.
She mentioned that they are hosting a ladies’ high tea as part of their fundraising efforts. For those who want to get in touch with her with regards to sponsorship or the upcoming event, contact her at carolgoldstone836@gmail.com
The pageant will take place in July.
