48 first-timers welcomed at parkrun

Parkrun is the perfect occasion to get together with loved ones and get fit.

The Springs parkrun welcomed 242 runners and walkers last weekend for event 334. Despite the rainy weather, Saturday was as warm as any mid-summer morning.

Kara Beytell and Alejandro and Brenda Duvenhage were congratulated for completing their 25th parkruns.

Other achievers include Glenrose Sibisi, who completed her 100th parkrun.

Last week’s rankings and their times:
Females
1. Kara Beytell 23:43
2. Odette van den Bergh 27:29
3. Dalene Venter 30:33

Males
1. Ruan Uys 18:56
2. Serego Serego 21:17
3. Xhola Mncitha 22:26

The Springs parkrun is held every Saturday at 08:00. Entrance is free.

Runners and walkers of all ages can register at Presidents Park before the run/walk – get there with your phone and parkrun members will help.

Bring your loved ones for some healthy fun and meet new people. Those who can’t walk or run can always go to the event as volunteers – all are welcome.

Springs parkrun is hosting a Valentines themed parkrun this Saturday.

“Bring your Valentine and wear something red for the run,” says event director Marius Jonker.
