Update: Springs JVA substation is back online

The manufacturing industry and other businesses in Greater Springs were affected by the power outage.

The Springs JVA substation is back online after a week of repairs and scheduled maintenance.

The substation was switched off on Monday morning due to much-needed maintenance to its switchgear.

The industries in town had negotiated from a two-week estimated time frame to just seven days.

Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane has confirmed that the substation is back online.

“We were able to restore power to the grid at 19:00, which was five hours earlier than our original estimated time of midnight.

“Residential areas such as Dal-Fouche had also been diverted to other substations and have now been reverted to JVA,” added Simelane.
