A call for residents to join Parkrun

Family and friends can enjoy the early morning fresh air while working up a sweat.

Springs parkrun is a health and fitness event open to everyone in and around Springs.

The event, which was started in 2016, has been a staple for those who want to keep fit or run leisurely with friends and family.

It takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at President’s Park along the Paul Kruger highway.

The trail is a double-lapped 5km distance and participants are timed to record their progress every week.

“We are a pet-friendly parkrun and participants are welcome to bring one dog per runner or walker on a short leash,” said the event organiser Marius Jonker.

He emphasises that children younger than 11 must be accompanied by their parents and stay within reach.

“Anyone is welcome to become a volunteer as we always need people to ensure the smooth running of this event. We also have a car guard checking that your vehicle stays safe,” he said.
