Laerskool Morester hosts career day

The school held this event to encourage their learners to pursue the careers of their dreams.

Laerskool Morester held a career day for its Grade Seven learners recently. The event, which saw the learners dress up in their dream careers, had a panel of guest speakers from different industries.

Palesa Mabuya, who is an on-air sound technician from Radio 702, is an alumnus of the school. She advised the learners and gave them tips about the media industry.

“The media industry keeps you on your feet, so you don’t have time to laze about,” she said.

Actor Sipho Manzini cautioned the learners not to make bad decisions in their youth as it will affect their adulthood.

“This is where your life truly begins whether you know what career path you want to follow or not,” he said.

Athi Siwa, the founder of Maobsessions Glow, reminded the learners to always be grateful for their upbringing as not everyone has opportunities in life.

“You come from a place of privilege as you’re getting an education, you are blessed. Take care of yourselves and stay away from bad things such as drugs so you can flourish,” she advised.
