Security guard injured during shooting at Springs Mall

A case of attempted robbery is under investigation following a shooting at Springs Mall on Tuesday.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, a woman was alleged to be depositing an undisclosed amount of coins at the bank when two men tried to rob her.

“The woman ran away and a shoot-out between a security officer, who tried to assist, and the duo broke out,” said Nevhuhulwi.

“The security officer was shot in the arm while chasing the men.”

Nevhuhulwi said the perpetrators are unknown and the vehicle in which they were travelling is a rental car.
