Residents invited to health and wellness expo
The Daggafontein Community Desk (DCD) invites the community to its first health and wellbeing expo.
The Daggafontein Community Desk (DCD) will host its first annual health and wellness expo on February 14 in Daggafontein.
This community education drive aims to inform the community of the impact of drug addiction in its various forms and take practical steps towards rehabilitation.
The expo is for addicts and those affected by addiction.
“Through the work we have been doing in the community of Daggafontein over the past two years, we have identified various social challenges the community faces daily,” said Ofentse Rakhudu, the DCD chairperson.
“We have and are making efforts not only to identify these challenges but develop practical solutions to mitigate them,” Rakhudu said.

Rakhudu believes substance abuse is one of the leading causes of addiction and other social ills such as GBV, the abuse of children and mental illness.
“We see the negative effects of abusing these substances daily in our communities.
“Therefore, we find it fitting to engage with relevant stakeholders with the necessary insight and authority to help mitigate these challenges in our communities.”
The DCD invites the community to the expo as they seek ways to curb these challenges in their community.
“We are certain that with your support, we can realise our vision of communities free of these ills and eventually free of all the negative ripple effects of these ills.”
