Correctional services plants trees

Forty holes for trees were dug in Nigel on Saturday.

Nigel – The Nigel Community Corrections Social Reintegration Office had a campaign to dig holes to plant 200 trees at Nigel Secondary School in Mackenzieville on Tuesday.

Twelve parolees and probationers participated in this project. As a result, they dug 40 out of 90 holes.

Furthermore, three officials, Jabu Joseph Shabangu, who co-ordinated the project, Mandla Arthur Hlumbane and Isaac Chabalala, ensured the parolees and probationers were under full supervision while executing their duties.

School principal Deon Vengantsammy applauded the officials, parolees and probationers for the work well done.
On Saturday, the group will plant trees donated by the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation of South Africa at the school.
