Rugby stars shine at Valke district in Springs

The Springs Rugby Youth Club hosted a successful Valke district Youth Club Day on Saturday.

The Springs Rugby Youth Club hosted a successful Youth Club Day at Hoërskool Hugenote on August 3.

This event, part of the Rugby Youth League for the Valke district, showcased the talent of young rugby players from various clubs across the region.

The day saw teams from U6 to U18, who demonstrated their skills and competed passionately on the field.

The event’s primary goal was fundraising, with each participating club aiming to support its youth programmes.

Jacques Dirksen, the club chairperson, said, “Every club hosts a day to fundraise for their youth, excluding senior teams such as first and second teams and U21s because they fall outside the youth club category.”

The teams lock heads.

Dirksen and coach Louis Kruger expressed their satisfaction with the day.

“The club day was a huge success, and we are grateful for the support from our sponsors and the community,” they said.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Springs Youth Rugby Club.

The club thanked everyone who participated and supported the event.
