Man fatally assaulted in Everest informal settlement

Four men in the Everest informal settlement fatally assaulted a man caught attempting to steal a spotlight on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the four men tied up the victim’s hands and severely assaulted him.

They took the injured man later to the corner of Main Road and Jali Street where he succumbed to his injuries.

The men appeared in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on September 5 on charges of murder.

The police strongly condemned acts of vigilantism and urged community members to cooperate with law enforcement in bringing perpetrators to justice.
