OUR Amazing Race: Know your rhino – Shinkwe
All proceeds of Our Amazing Race will go towards rhino conservation efforts.
This November, Springsites are invited to participate in a day of fun, teamwork and adventure that will bring them together for a common cause – the protection of rhinos in Limpopo.
The rhinos are the pride and joy of the D’Arrigo family and, in collaboration with Insimbi Legacy Projects, they will bring to Springs a once-in-a-lifetime event, OUR Amazing Race.
Shinkwe, the eldest rhino on the reserve at 23 years old, has been a mother and guardian to many rhinos.
Her maternal skills have set her above all when nurturing the young ones.
She has been shot twice by poachers but has survived both attempts on her life. She is classified as bulletproof.
Her strong and resilient nature shows that she does not give up.

Shinkwe is a strong and amazing creature with a temper to match.
She is the one rhino you don’t mess with; she will show you who she is. Her aggressive temper and scars tell the story of her long life and the challenges she faced over the years.
She has seen it all. A woman (rhino) made of steel. Shinkwe is one of the rhinos who will be the beneficiary of the proceeds of OUR Amazing Race.
Our Amazing Race will be held from 11:00 on November 2 at the Springs Mall. The theme is Out of Africa.
