SOB dominates as Geluksdal is bowled out for 200 runs

The Springs Old Boys Cricket Club continues to deliver impressive results and stand-out performances this season.

The Springs Old Boys (SOB) Cricket Club outdid itself with outstanding performances over the weekend.

In the first league match on Saturday, the SOB played the Geluksdal Cricket Club (CC) in a 30-over match. The SOB scored 220 runs.

SOB’s top batsman Berti Visser scored 45 runs, while Paul van Jaarsveldt and Ruan Geering scored 29 runs each.

Geluksdal CC was bowled out for 200 runs. The best bowler of the match was Neil Joubert, who took four wickets for 46 runs in seven overs.

The SOB won by 20 runs.

In the Sunday promotion 50-over match, the SOB bowled first against Wattville and bowled them out at 144 runs.

The best bowlers were Joubert, who took five wickets in six overs, including one maiden, and 16 runs, earning a match ball from coach Lionel Joubert.

Riaan van der Merwe also took five wickets for 16 runs with one maiden. Wattville regularly picked up wickets, with Matthew Smith top scoring with 29 runs, followed by Jaco Potgieter with 18 runs not out.

Keegan Koekemoer, with 12 not out, ensured the SOB won by two wickets. The juniors’ cricket team also showcased their skills and effort over the weekend, securing great wins.

  • U10 Impala secured a three-wicket win against Kempton CC.
  • U10 Kingham dominated Benoni CC 2 with a 127-run victory.
  • U10 Sibali battled Tembisa CC in an exciting encounter.
  • U12 Impala 1 clinched a convincing 60-run win over the Geluksdal CC.
  • U12 Impala 2 delivered a standout performance, defeating Kwa-Thema CC by 121 runs.
  • U12 Kingham claimed a hard-fought three-wicket victory over Benoni CC.
  • U12 Sibali got a default win when Kempton CC could not field enough players.

Club member Cheanine Homan Kennedy said the club continues to impress with a combination of skill and determination, aiming to leave a last mark this season.
